In 1824 Leah is a 17yo Brazilian encouraged by the independency of her country but sent, against her will, to an arranged marriage in Lisbon. When her ship stops at the island of Fernando de Noronha, she falls in love with a 27 year old shipbuilder named Joaquim. Leah is forced to embark to Lisbon, but on the way she finds out that she’s pregnant. After losing the child, she begins her journey of search for Joaquim.

It’s 1824 when the shipbuilder Joaquim, 27, and the young Leah, 17, bride to be in an arranged marriage in Portugal, meet and fall in love on the remote island of Fernando de Noronha. During one night on the beach a magic star falls down from the sky into the ocean, mysteriously transferring its eternal life to the couple. Unaware of the star’s affect, Leah is taken to Lisbon, against her will. It is then when Joaquim’s adventure to find her begins.

JÚLIO & JULIANO

Laura Malin’s first book, Julio & Juliano, narrates the encounter of twin brothers, separated at birth, who meet for the first time at the age of 20, after their mother passes away. Set up in Rio de Janeiro, the book shows how their lives became so different. One is a cop; the other is a drug dealer. While they struggle to become a family, destiny tricks them into falling in love with the same woman, Amelia.

RUBENS KRASKOFF

Biography

Son of Ukrainian immigrants, Rubens Kraskoff grew up helping the family of very humble origin. He fixed umbrellas, sold saints and candies, took care of his blind father, bought the first stove for his mother to cook. He began selling mattresses, which led him to open a small furniture shop. Intuitive and extremely perceptive, he set up a small empire of 28 establishments, to lose it all. Faced with many obstacles, he eventually created Rio Decor, the first furniture mall in Rio de Janeiro.

Biography

Luiza Brunet has always been an icon of beauty. Since appearing on the covers of magazines in the 1980s, she has become a symbol of the Brazilian woman, with features of those born in the Pantanal, in contact with nature, feet on the ground, indian, Brazilian. A sex symbol in her early years, the bold woman who did not shy away from posing without clothes in the studio, on the beach or in the middle of Times Square. Time has passed and Luiza is the protagonist of a journey that few are able to undertake.

DÉBORA DUARTE

Biography

She is certainly one of the most popular and beloved actresses on Brazilian television. She practically grew up on camera. In her first work played Cosette from Les Misérables, in 1958, followed by other great texts and even novels on the television pioneer, TV Tupi. It is not for nothing that Débora knows everything what it is like to represent in front of a camera, something very natural for her and which she reveals in this testimony of author Laura Malin.
